Peter Apps, political risk correspondent at Thomson Reuters, told CNBC, “most people would still expect Vladimir Putin to come through next year’s presidential elections intact, having said that clearly there is going to be a stepping up in terms of repression surveillance and some kind of reform to placate the crowds.”
